On August 27, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 1:21 p.m. and responded to an injured hiker on the Lulumahu Trail in Nuʻuanu with 5 units staffed with 13 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 1:31 p.m. and ascended the trail on foot; a second-arriving unit ascended the trail five minutes later.
It was reported that a female in her 20s suffered a left lower leg injury while hiking. HFD personnel reached the hiker’s location at 1:43 p.m. where they conducted a medical assessment, provided basic life support, and prepared her for extraction from the trail utilizing a single-wheel extrication device. The hiker was then safely taken to the trailhead where medical care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 2:29 p.m.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
