On September 1, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) responded to an injured hiker at the Lanikai Pillbox Trail in Kailua. 5 units, staffed with 15 personnel were dispatched at 2:05 p.m. The first unit arrived on scene at 2:15 p.m. and proceeded up the trail on foot.
HFD personnel were at patient side by 2:21 p.m. and reported a female visitor in her 20’s with an ankle injury. After performing an initial medical assessment and providing basic life support treatment, HFD crews hiked the patient down the trail via a Stokes litter basket and one wheel. Patient care was transferred to the Emergency Medical Services at 3:02 p.m.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries
