On September 1, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 10:10 p.m. for a building fire at 94-447 Kahualei Place in Waipahu and responded with 11 units staffed with 43 personnel. Responding units reported smoke and flames were visible enroute; the incident was upgraded to a second-alarm assignment. The first unit arrived on scene at 10:16 p.m. and observed a fully-involved, single-story residential structure.
Firefighters secured a water supply and initiated a defensive fire attack. A search of the residence was completed to confirm no occupants were inside of the structure. The fire was brought under control at 10:41 p.m. and fully extinguished at 11:22 p.m. A residential structure on the left of the fire structure sustained light fire damage. Two people were treated by Emergency Medical Services.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries. The American Red Cross was notified to assist the displaced occupants of the residence.
The HFD Fire Investigator was requested to determine the origin and cause of the fire and to assess damage. An update will be provided upon completion of the final investigation report.
