BRUSH FIRE CONTAINED IN KALAELOA

On September 19, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 9:54 p.m. for a brush fire near the intersection of San Juacinto Street and Essex Road in Kalaeloa and initially responded with three units staffed with nine personnel. The first unit arrived at the scene at 10:08 p.m., reported a large brush fire, requested additional resources, and commenced an offensive fire attack. In all, a total of 14 units staffed with 43 personnel responded.

The fire was 90% contained at 11:15 p.m. and declared 100% contained at 1:08 a.m. The HFD was able to stop the fire before endangering any structures. 

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.

The fire’s origin and cause are undetermined at this time.
