On September 20, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 3:08 p.m. and responded to a building fire at 1239 South King Street in Honolulu with 6 units staffed with 22 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 3:13 p.m. to find an eight-story residential structure with no smoke or flames visible.
Fire fighters further investigated while simultaneously securing a water supply. Upon discovery of fire conditions on the seventh floor, fire fighters immediately initiated an offensive fire attack and completed a search of the involved unit and all adjacent units. Two occupants, one male and one female in their 60s, were extricated and medical care transferred to Emergency Medical Services. The fire was declared under control and fully extinguished at 3:38 p.m.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.
An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
