On October 1, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 11:06 p.m. for a building fire at 1375 Hoohui Street in Pearl City and responded with 6 units staffed with 22 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 11:13 p.m. and found smoke emanating from the front of a small, single-story, residential building. While performing the initial size-up, the Incident Commander discovered that four occupants exited the house on their own.
Fire fighters secured a water supply and initiated an aggressive offensive fire attack with handlines, resulting in bringing the fire under control at 11:20 p.m. and fully extinguishing it at 11:48 p.m. During the fire attack, one adult male occupant of the home experienced difficulty breathing due to smoke inhalation. His medical care was transferred to the Emergency Medical Services unit. All searches for occupants in the structure confirmed that no one was inside. Overhaul techniques were performed to extinguish smoldering materials while looking for hidden fires in void spaces to ensure the fire did not extend into other areas of the home.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries to them.
