HYDRAULIC RESCUE TOOLS USED TO FREE PEDESTRIAN AFTER VEHICLE CRASH IN WAIPAHU

On April 21, 2026 the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 3:26 p.m. and responded to an auto accident reported near the intersection of Puko Street and Manager’s Drive in Waipahu. The first unit arrived on scene at 3:33 p.m. with Honolulu Emergency Services Department (HESD) to find a pedestrian pinned next to the vehicle and upgraded the incident to an extrication requesting additional resources. A total of 5 units staffed with 15 personnel responded to this incident.

HFD personnel stabilized the vehicle and used hydraulic rescue tools to extricate the pedestrian and transferred medical care to HESD. HFD personnel secured the scene and transferred command to the HPD.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
