CAUSE OF BUILDING FIRE IN MĀPUNAPUNA WAS INCENDIARY

UPDATE: The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) Fire Investigator has classified the cause of the fire that occurred on May 27, 2026, at 1150 Kikowaena Street in Māpunapuna as incendiary. It was determined that the fire originated on the north side of the structure where multiple air conditioning units were situated. Ignitable liquids were utilized to propagate the fire at multiple points of origin in this area. The estimated fire loss is $36,000, including $6,000 in property damage and $30,000 in damaged contents.
