UPDATE: CAUSE OF RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE IN PEARL CITY WAS ACCIDENTAL

The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) Fire Investigator has classified the cause of the fire that occurred on June 24, 2026, 2238 Auhuhu Street in Pearl City as accidental. It was determined that the fire originated in a second floor bedroom on the northeast corner of the structure when the heat from an incandescent light bulb of a lamp ignited the cloth shade covering of the lamp. The estimated fire loss is $360,000, including $350,000 in property damage and $10,000 in damaged contents.
