UPDATE: On July 4, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) resumed the search at 6:38 a.m. for a hiker in distress on the Kapalama Trail in Nu’uanu with 5 units staffed with 15 personnel. Air 1 was able to locate the hiker just before 7:00 a.m. Rescue personnel were inserted at the hiker’s location and confirmed the hiker was uninjured. The hiker was then airlifted to a nearby landing zone at approximately 7:15 a.m.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
