RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN KALIHI

On July 6, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 12:49 p.m. and responded to a building fire reported at 1662 Gulick Ave in Kalihi with 12 units staffed with approximately 45 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 12:54 p.m. and reported smoke and flames emanating from the front of a one-story residence with multiple sublevels. 

Fire fighters secured a water supply, commenced an aggressive fire attack, and performed a search for occupants at each level of the residence. Two occupants were located on a sublevel and were escorted outside to safety. A secondary search confirmed that no other occupants were inside of the structure. Additionally, fire fighters assisted to collect and secure all the dogs belonging to the residence. The fire was brought under control at 1:32 p.m. and fully extinguished at 1:40 p.m. 

Emergency Medical Services were available on scene and assumed medical care of the two occupants. 

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported. 

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
