On September 4, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) responded to a sick hiker at the Koko Head Crater Trail in Hawaii Kai. 6 units, staffed with 17 personnel were dispatched at 11:55 a.m. The first unit arrived on scene at 12:04 p.m. and proceeded up the trail on foot.
HFD personnel were at patient side by 12:18 p.m. and reported a male visitor in his 30’s not feeling well. After performing an initial medical assessment and providing basic life support treatment, HFD crews walked patient down the trail. HFD transferred care to Emergency Medical Services and patient refused transport at 12:44 p.m.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
