On September 11, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 1:03 p.m. and responded to a building fire reported near 1696 Kalauokalani Way in Honolulu with 6 units staffed with 22 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 1:10 p.m. and found a restroom, next to a single family residence, with smoke and flames. The second-arriving unit began a search for occupants of the residence.
Fire fighters secured a water supply, commenced an aggressive fire attack, and confirmed that no occupants were inside of the structure. The fire was brought under control at 1:19 p.m. and fully extinguished at 1:26 p.m.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.
An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
