On September 23, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 3:02 p.m. and responded to a building fire at 84-181 Water Street in Makaha with 8 units staffed with 24 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 3:08 p.m. and found a small single family residence with smoke showing. The second-arriving unit began a search for occupants of the residence due to reports of someone still being inside.
Fire fighters secured a water supply, commenced an aggressive fire attack with handlines, and confirmed that no occupants were inside of the structure. The fire was brought under control at 3:14 p.m. and fully extinguished at 3:25 p.m.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.
An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
